2005 OSU Distinguished Alumni Awards

Guess what?  We have another alumnus in the award category for the second year running.  Last year Ernest Levert was among the winners, this year it's Anthony Ananthanarayanan.

Here's his write up:

V. (Anthony) Ananthanarayanan received a master’s degree in 1985 in metallurgical engineering and doctorate in 1988 in welding engineering at Ohio State.  He works at the Delphi Energy and Chassis Group in Dayton and resides in Beavercreek, Ohio.  In 1988 Ananthanarayanan joined Delphi, where he provides welding expertise to Delphi operations worldwide as corporate technical fellow and leader of the Welding Core Competency Group.  He has supervised development efforts in dozens of Delphi initiatives, including a recent patented deformation resistance welding technique for tubular materials.  As a direct result of this invention, Delphi has spun off a new company in the Detroit area concentrating on this joining method for automotive applications. He has trained more than 30 weld professionals at various Delphi plants worldwide.  He holds 15 U.S. patents and has received numerous honors and awards, including a written commendation from the Ohio Senate 123rd General Assembly recognizing his expertise as a leading scientist in Ohio.  For the past five years, he has been an active participant in Ohio State’s Welding Engineering Senior Capstone Design Project.  He not only sponsors the projects, but he becomes actively involved in the project work-scope, freely giving of his time to help the students complete their testing, analyze data or fine-tune report and presentation materials.   For more info, go to the following link: http://www.eng.ohio-state.edu/alumni/buckeye/distinguished.php
