History
The Ohio State University Welding Engineering Alumni Society (OSUWEAS) was officially chartered in 1994 by the outstanding efforts of Larry Heckendorn and Dick Holdren. The mission was simple: form an alumni society to pool our talents in an effort to create alumni scholarships, provide support to the faculty, foster fellowship between OSUWE graduates and encourage professional development. There are 1100 graduates of the OSUWE program. Three hundred and forty of these graduates are dues paying members of the OSUWEAS. That makes us the alumni society with the largest percentage of graduate membership of any alumni group in the history of OSU. Our last Alumni Luncheon at the AWS Show drew 13% of our total number of graduates. Again, this is the largest reunion (percentage wise) of any alumni group.
