At the opening ceremony for the 1998 OSU Welding Engineering Open house, Dave Trees of John Deere delivered a check for $6,000. He also announced John Deere's intention to provide even more money next year.					Robert Taft, State of Ohio Secretary of State, spoke to students and EWI staff. He then toured EWI and the OSU Welding Engineering Laboratories.
	Nancy Porter, Welding Engineering Alumni Society President, planted one of six new bricks purchased since the 10-24-97 patio dedication. There are now 28 bricks in the OSU Welding Engineering Memorial Patio.
