Dr. Henry J. Cialone / President & CEO
Cialone, President and CEO of Edison Welding Institute, has a record of creating new business opportunities through technological innovation. Prior to joining EWI in 2005, he was an executive at Battelle Memorial Institute, where he helped develop and manage a considerable alternative energy portfolio, ultimately leading the commercial energy business and serving on the governing board of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Cialone was instrumental in the creation of the FutureGen Industrial Alliance for a near-zero-emissions coal-fired power plant, the Battelle Energy Advisory Council, and a joint venture with Energetix Group leading to the formation of Energetix Genlec, a subsidiary of Energetix Group plc.
He is a member of the National Coal Council and the Miami University Research Advisory Council; a Trustee of the Midwest Research Institute in Kansas City; Vice Chairman of the Ohio Fuel Cell Coalition; Non-Executive Director of the NanoSteel Company; and Non-Executive Director of the Energetix Group plc. Cialone received his BS degree in materials engineering from Brown University, and his MS and PhD degrees in materials science, also from Brown, where he specialized in hydrogen enhanced fracture.
Jim Tighe / Vice President, Administrative Services and CFO
Tighe leads the finance and accounting, payroll, information technology, contracts, and legal services teams at EWI. Previously, he served Sterling Commerce in positions that included Director of Global Finance, VP of Managed Services and Assistant Controller. Sterling Commerce, a subsidiary of AT&T, provides business process solutions to FORTUNE® 500 companies around the globe. Additionally, his professional experience includes the titles of Corporate Controller for Pathlore Software, CFO for SARCOM Enterprise Systems, and auditor for Ernst and Young. He has a BS in Accounting from Miami University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Chris Conrardy / Vice President of Technology and Innovation
Conrardy's responsibilities include technology and thought leadership; business planning, evaluation and development; and strategic partner relations. Conrardy has more than 20 years of experience in welding engineering, manufacturing engineering, and project leadership. Formerly, Conrardy held the position of Technology Leader for Arc Welding, Lasers, and Automation for EWI. He holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Welding Engineering from The Ohio State University. He has done work for a range of industries including the heavy manufacturing, energy, defense, aerospace, and automotive sectors.
Mark Matson / Vice President, Human Resources
Matson's responsibilities include the development and implementation of all phases of talent management practices as well as the alignment of those practices with business strategies.
Prior to joining EWI, Matson was Corporate Human Resources Director at OCLC Online Computer Library Center Inc., where he partnered with senior leadership in directing the people and organizational dimensions of the business. Mr. Matson is certified by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) as a Senior Professional in Human Resource Management (SPHR). He received his Masters degree in Labor Relations and Human Resource Management from the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University. He holds a B.A. degree in Urban Studies from The Catholic University of America in Washington DC.
Phillip Weisenbach / Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
Weisenbach directs the company’s engineering group including: resistance & solid state welding; arc welding, lasers & automation; engineering, materials & nondestructive evaluation; adhesives, plastics, brazing, soldering, ultrasonics & micro processes; and welding & testing labs. He has extensive experience in automotive engineering, manufacturing, design and build of automated welding and assembly lines. In addition, Weisenbach directs the Industrial Sales/Marketing Teams in their efforts to meet EWI Member goals. Prior to joining EWI, Weisenbach worked 11 years with Ford Motor Company where he held several positions, including Body Area Manager at the Wixom Assembly Plant, Welding Engineer, Manufacturing Engineering Manager, and Production Manager. Weisenbach also worked 6 years at DCT, whose business was to process, design and build welding and assembly systems for the automotive applications. During this time, he held positions as Director of Program Management and Vice President and General Manager of the division. Weisenbach holds a B.S. in Welding Engineering from The Ohio State University.
