Soon, EWI will be adding a glow discharge spectroscopy system from Leco® to our lab. The system will give us the ability to perform accurate elemental analysis of common steels, stainless steels, titanium, copper and aluminum alloys. Importantly, having the equipment in-house will reduce our customers’ leadtimes on chemical testing from several days to a few hours.
The addition of the chemical analysis system brings a unique distinction to EWI. Ours will be the only full-service weld testing facility in the country that has all primary weld/consumable qualification testing under one roof: welding, machining, mechanical and metallurgical testing; NDE including radiography, corrosion, and now chemical testing.
