“COMPLETE” RP2Z Testing Offered at EWI!

November 2, 2011

API RP2Z testing is used to qualify plate material for service in offshore environments. A major portion of this qualification process involves welding plates for subsequent toughness testing on the weld heat-affected-zone (HAZ). Typically, a weld-shop is contracted to perform the welding, and a separate test-house is contracted to perform the mechanical testing. Unfortunately, separating the sample fabrication and mechanical testing portions of the RP2Z qualification can potentially lead to issues with scheduling, cost, and other headaches.

At EWI, we have the advantage of being able to perform the sample fabrication and mechanical testing all under one roof! This eliminates the issues associated with performing the RP2Z qualification in a piece-wise fashion. Additionally, EWI also has the capabilities to perform advanced post-testing metallurgical analysis in-house (including SEM fractography). If you’re interested in performing an RP2Z qualification, or simply CTOD testing, please give me a call at 614.688.5134, or send me an email at [email protected]. We look forward to hearing from you!
